My Top 10 Fit Tips!
As i get quite a few questions on my fitness and how I stay healthy I thought I would share my top 10 rules I swear by for keeping my physical health in shape.
1.) CONTROL YOUR CALORIE INTAKE
They say that an adult female is meant to eat around 2000kcal a day to maintain a healthy weight and diet. For me that is far too many calories and if I ate that everyday I would feel physically ill. That is why I aim for between 1,200 - 1,300kcal per day. If i have a bad day and feel like eating a bit more than usual, I will as it is important to listen to what your body is saying.
My Fitness Pal is a great App to help track your calorie intake, i swear by it!
2.) CARBS ARE YOUR FRIEND
Cutting any food group out of your daily diet is a bad idea. Yes, carbohydrates eaten in excessive amount can lead to weight gain, but eating a portion or two a day is good for your body. Carbs break down in your body to provide glucose (energy) so without them completely you will crave more bad foods and are more likely to binge.
3.) BUT WATCH OUT FOR SUGAR
Many people say they want chiseled abs or a flat stomach, but without controlling your sugar intake this simply isn't possible. Sugar is the reason for that bit of belly podge that just won't go. Sugar is broken down in the body and is stored around the abdominal area, converting to fat so as well as watching your calories, what they are made up of is very important too.
4.) LEARN TO LOVE THE GYM
At 16 my Mom joined herself and I up to a gym and I absolutely hated it, but I knew I had to keep at it to get the results I wanted. Now 6 years later i am so glad I stuck at it, and now I actually love going and seeing how far I can push myself.
5.) START SLOW AND LOW
There is no point in going to the gym for the first time and trying to move the heaviest weight for loads of reps only to be in pain for the following week. It is all about personal development, not what the person next to you is capable of, so only do what is comfortable for you. I personally hate the treadmill and never use it, but the cross-trainer is way more up my street.
6.) LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD
What i wear really does affect my mood. If I dress in loose, baggy clothes thats how I feel, so I always make sure I love my outfit whether it be for work, going out or the gym. Being comfortable and chic is the aim always.

Its a well known, but well ignored fact that we need ALOT of water everyday to keep our bodies hydrated. I drink around 1-1.5 litres of water everyday, plus the odd tea or diet coke and I have noticed a massive difference in my skin and energy levels in doing so. Its an easy thing that everyone can fit into their daily schedules and a good place to start your lifestyle change from.
8.) TREAT YOUR SKIN
By increasing your water intake, you should notice a difference in your skin, but other problem areas are easily looked after. Being tanned is my fav! I love having a tan and not looking like a member of the Addams family all year round. But a tan can help cover up imperfections in the skin, making cellulite appear less pitted and uneven, so its a win win!
9.) AND YOURSELF
All of this being said everyone needs a day off occasionally and cheat days are the best. By a cheat day i don't necessarily mean a whole day of eating rubbish, but your favourite meal or snacks every few weeks doesn't hurt anyone.

10.) PROGRESS DOESNT APPEAR OVERNIGHT
If you are looking for a quick fix for weight loss and you think something is too good to be true, it probably is. Everyone works at their own speed and things should not be rushed. If you have a goal in mind i.e. a holiday, wedding or big birthday then give yourself plenty of time to get to where you wan to be.
